2009年、2011年に続き、この夏、堂島リバーフォーラムでは「堂島リバービエンナーレ2013」を開催致します。アートをさまざまな分野とつなげることで、新たなアートの地平を浮かび上らせていきます。
第一回目では、南條史生氏（森美術館館長）をアート・ディレクターに迎え「リフレクション：アートに見る世界の今」という展示を行いました。グローバル社会の中で、金融危機や地域紛争、貧困問題など、社会の諸相を提起する、世界各国からのアート作品が並び注目を集めました。
第二回目では、飯田高誉氏（青森県立美術館チーフ・キュレーター）をアーティスティック・ディレクターに迎え「ECOSOPHIA（エコソフィア）」と題した展示を行いました。2011年3月の大震災を厳しく受け止め、これからの地球のあり方を、アートと建築というテーマのもとに自然環境、社会環境、人間の心理の3方向から考察する場となり未来に向けての地球ヴィジョン、新たな自然観、世界観を指し示す空間を会場全体で表現しました。
そして第三回目の今回は、台湾出身のキュレーターで、テート・ギャラリーのアジア購入委員会の委員でもあるRudy Tseng（ルディ・ツェン）氏をアーティスティックディレクターに迎え、「Little Water」と題した展示を行います。

Dojima River Biennale 2013 will be held this summer at the Dojima River Forum. It is the third event in the series, following the success of the first Biennale in 2009, and the second Biennale in 2011. By linking art with many other areas, it promises to bring new horizons for art into sight.

The first Biennale had the theme of “Reflection：The World Through Art,”with Fumio Nanjo, Director of the Mori Art Museum as Art Director. Presenting art from around the world that addressed issues faced by our global society－including financial crises, regional conflicts, and poverty－it successfully drew public attention to these issues.

The second Biennale had the theme of “ECOSOPHIA”, with Takayo Iida, Chief Curator of the Aomori Museum of Art as Artistic Director. The triple disasters that occurred in Japan in March 2011 have provided a powerful impetus for a serious review of how we think about our earth. Based on the theme of Art & Architecture, the Biennale has become a venue for examining this visual issue from three perspectives－the natural environment, the social environment, and human psychology.

For the third Biennale, the title is “Little Water” with Rudy Tseng, Taiwanese curator and Member of Tate Gallery Asia-Pacific Acquisitions Committee as Artistic Director.

堂島リバーフォーラムは大阪の中心を流れる堂島川のほとりに位置しており、堂島川はこの地の景観や人々の日常の暮らしに大きな役割を果たしています。歴史的に見てアジアの豊かな文明と文化は川沿いから生まれ、そこから農耕、経済、 詩歌、文学が誕生しました。
流れる水の美しさや水の多様性からインスピレーションを得て、「水の意味」を再考し、農業や文学、エコロジー、人間の感性など多様な水の役割を探究していきます。
今回招聘する作品群は、自然におけるもっとも基本的要素である水の複雑性と多様性、詩的な美しさを表現し、水のもつユニークな価値を再認識する事ができます。

The Dojima River Forum is set on the beautiful riverbanks of Dojima River, in the heart of the traditional Osaka. At Dojima River, water plays an important part to the scene and the everyday life of the people here.
In history, the rich culture and civilization in Asia arose along river valleys, where the development of agriculture, economy to poem literature came to formation. Inspired by the beauty of flowing water and its significance in many different aspects. Mr. Tseng reinvestigates the traditional meaning of the water and explores its role in many different aspects of agriculture, ecology, literature and human sensibility.
Tseng invites works, which embrace the complexity and diversity of this most basic element of nature and its poetic beauty while acknowledge the unique of values of it.

Rudy Tseng　(ルディ・ツェン)
1959年に台北に生まれ、現在は台北をベースに、インディペンデントキュレーター兼フルタイムのアートコレクターとして国際的なアートの場で活動中。国際的なアートシーンに参画しており、アジアでは数少ないテート・ギャラリーのアジア太平洋購入委員会委員や、森美術館の国際委員でもある。
ここ近年ルディは、台北で展覧会のキュレーターを手がけ始め、これらの展覧会は、2012年のDiscreet Charm of Bourgeoisie、2010年のLiving with Art: Contemporary Art from Japan and Taiwan 、2011年のDocumented, Doubted and Imagined Realities: Contemporary Photography from Japan and Taiwanのように、国際的なアートイベントとなってマスコミや美術愛好家の注目を浴び、展覧会の初日には1,000人以上もの来場者が訪れ人気を呼んだ。

Mr. Rudy Tseng
Rudy Tseng was born in 1959 in Taipei. He is now an independent curator and a full‐time art collector based in Taipei. Aside from that, he is actively involved in the international art scene, also one of a few member of Tate Gallery Asia‐Pacific Acquisitions Committee in Asia and an international member of the Mori Art Museum.
In recent years, Rudy has started curating exhibitions in Taipei. Among these exhibitions, many of them including Discreet Charm of Bourgeoisie (in 2012), Living with Art： Contemporary Art from Japan and Taiwan (in 2010) and Documented, Doubted and Imagined Realities： Contemporary Photography from Japan and Taiwan ( in 2011) turned into international art events and drew much media report and attention and attract more than one thousand visitors and art lovers on its opening date.
